Jim I love your Mali Prehnite, it's fantastic.
This is my favourite today:--
Fluorite with Jamesonite inclusions..
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County,
Hunan Province, China.
The Jamesonite is both internal & external.

Todays favorite...
Silver, Calcite
New Nevada Mine, Cerro San Antonio, San Miguel, Batopilas, Andres del Rio District, Mun. de Batopilas, Chihuahua, Mexico
36 x 25 x 15 mm overall. This native Silver from Batopilas is a classic example of the herringbone-style this locality is famous for. It has sharply elongated spinel twins, connected together in an aesthetic framework. What sets this specimen apart from most is the accents of snow-white Calcite, some showing classic rhombs.

Today's contribution is a bit unusual...a Galena from Arizona.
Galena, Quartz
Iron Cap Mine, Landsman Camp, Aravaipa, Santa Teresa Mts, Aravaipa District, Graham Co., Arizona, USA
86 x 62 x 39 mm overall. Bright, silvery Galena crystals measuring up to 12 x 12 mm, with modified corners, are nestled in a bed of clear to whitish Quartz points, all on a Hedenbergite matrix. The specimen is ex. George Godas collection, and was collected in October 1987 by Bill Hawes.

This is one of the few rocks I regret having to sell, but had to pay for the collecting trips....I ran across a snap shot I took in about 1995, scanned it and loaded it on Mindat the other day. This is one of my favorites and the best rock I have personally collected (and spent over 80 hours prepping...exposing each garnet buried in the hard matrix using air scribes.) This was also the best of these found.
Grossular
Sierra de Cruces, Mun. de Sierra Mojada, Coahuila, Mexico
The specimen is approximately 20 cm across, and the largest Grossular crystal is about 7 cm long. The matrix is a mixture of fine grained clear to whitish garnets and what is likely wollastonite. This specimen was collected by Graham Sutton and Bob Griffis in December 1993 from an isolated hill (Cerro de Moka) at the south end of the Sierra de Cruces mountain range. The garnet-bearing outcrop was at the top of the hill and was completely removed over 2 field trips. The specimen was sold to Dennis Beals and then was purchased by the Freiburg Museum, in the Pohl collection. Photo is a scan of a pre-digital print, so excuse the quality, and note that it represents the specimen prior to Dennis performing additional preparation work.

Wulfenite
Old Yuma Mine, Saguaro National Monument, Amole District, Tucson Mts, Pima Co., Arizona, USA
40 x 35 x 8 mm overall. Lustrous, large, single fiery-orange Wulfenite crystal measuring 40 x 35 x 8 mm. This is a floater crystal with no point of attachment. This is an ex Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum collection piece I acquired in trade in 1992. No damage.

This specimen may not be particularly exciting, except for the memories associated with it.
During an exploration project that included the upper Cement Creek basin (just north of Italian Mountain) in Gunnison County, Colorado, we discovered float from this vein exposed in the shales in the creek near the head of the drainage. If the jeep trail is still open it is a great day trip. Especially if you have the energy to climb to the top of the ridge a few hundred yards north of the pyrite location, past the ruins of the old car and the miners shack, where you will have a wonderful view to the north of the mountains between there and Aspen.
Pyrite in etched calcite. Cubic crystals are modified by several forms including the pyritohedron, octahedron and diploid. 7x6x3.5 cm. Circa 1976.
Cheers!

This large 19 cm x 15 cm Indiana geode was found in 2004 on the Southwest Harrodsburg road cut in southern Monroe County by a long time Indiana geode collector. The calcites measure about 5.7 x 3.3 cm and 7.0 x 3.5 cm. The adjacent barite grouping measures about 3 cm with the largest individual xtal measuring about 1.3 cm.
