Is there an easy way to upload multiple photos, rather than having to go back to the add photo screen on your homepage every time? Even if there were an "Add Another" option available when you finish with one it would be very helpful.
And (related), is there a way to upload photos directly to an article, or do you have to upload every photo to the db first?
Thanks,
Michael

Michael,
I may or may not be able to help you. I am not sure how you are currently uploading your pictures. Could you give me the url for the add photo screen you are using? What kinds of pictures are you uploading. Specimen images? Locality images? others?

Hi Rock,
I'm working on an article (a better late than never Bancroft Gemboree show report, actually), so I have a bunch of "other" photos, and a few minerals that I want to incorporate into the article. Of course a proper mineral photo requires a little more individual treatment if it's going to be added to the db, but what I was hoping for was a quicker and easier way to either upload photos directly to the article (as you can in a message board post), or (if they must be added to the db first) a way to upload a bunch of "others" at once without having to categorize and describe each individually.
I had been using the "Add a New Photo" button from my photos page every time, although I did just notice the "Add/Edit Data" on the top menu which does save me a couple of clicks when I'm uploading them individually, but is still less than ideal.
Are there other ways to add photos to an article and/or the db that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Michael

Michael,
if by “batch upload” you mean to upload many photos from the same locality I would suggest the following procedure:
- First go to the Mindat page of the locality.
- Next choose the “i” icon next to the species you want to upload a photo of. (if you want to upload different species from the same locality I suggest you open the link in a new tab so you can come back and choose a different species)
- On the page that appears you choose “Add new photograph of mineral from locality” (third item from the bottom). If you plan to upload more than one photo to this type I suggest you open this link in a new tab again.
- You are then asked to choose the photo.
- When this is done you will find that the locality and species has been preselected for you witch saves much typing and clicking.
Once you get the hang on this procedure you will find that you can upload photos pretty quickly and the genius of our senior programmer has saved you much hassle.
Warm regards,
Branko

Hi Branko,
I'm actually looking for a way to streamline adding "other" photos for use in an article - the type I wouldn't normally be inclined to upload to Mindat otherwise, or spend a lot of time captioning (except in the context of the article), but that's a great tip. I'm not adding a lot of specimen photos right now, but I'll certainly use that procedure in future.
Thanks,
Michael
