My wife and I are going to be in Norway, Sweden, and a little piece of Finland July 18 through August 8 and am curious as to some neat geological points of interest to see or some possible (and legal) collecting opportunities. We already plan to visit Kongsberg, Roros, and Sulitjelma in Norway and Kiruna and Falun in Sweden; however, if anyone knows of interesting geologic stops along the way, please let me know by responding here or by private message.
Thanks,
Paul

Hundholmen close to kjøpsvik is a nice place to visit, still possible to collect (ask thomas hunsdal who to ask for permission), and with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work both hundholmenite, adamsite, allanite-Y/Ce and fluorthalenite is possible to find.
If you drive past Mo i Rana, there are some talc mines at altermark where you might be able to collect some nice "smaragdite".
I guess you plan to drive up norway till Narvik and from there to Kiruna. I think most of the interest stuff in Finland is a bit further north, Svaapavaara which at least earlier had some tourist collecting in the summer.

Hello Paul,
I can give you some information about collecting in Sweden.I was several times there but not so for in the nord.
The book of Hans Jurgen Wilke can be a great help.
There ware a lot of pegmatites around Falun but I never found them, maybe to old and overcoverd with vegetation.
Around Falun there is a place that cal"Grönsjöberget" there I found some babbingtonite, garnet, diopsied and wollastonite.
You can try also to go to "Garpenberg".The mine is stil working and with some luck you mai collecting there.
I live in Belgium,Europ and wil go back to Sweden this mond.
I wish you good luck.
André
