Large gem grade emerald

Any thoughts on how much I could sell this emerald crystal for? It's 43.05cts from Swat Valley, Pakistan. It is in between "lightly included" and "moderately included" with no large inclusions, fissues, or flaws that would affect cutting if thats was it's fate. One black inclusion, which is right under the second lower termination, is slightly off set from center but being near the termination it will not affect yield very much if any. All other large visible inclusions are near the perphiery. All the small flaws and inclusions are randomly spread out with no concentration of them in one area. Color is not great but not bad either and I would say it's about in the middle as far as color goes in emeralds. As a crystal specimen it has a stair-stepped termination and no chips or damage on the exterior. How much can this be sold for?

Perhaps $200? Do you know if it is completely natural or has it been oiled?

It has been soaked in Oxalic acid for 3+ days and then a dilute HCL: bath for a day after that. I figure any oil or opticon/resin would have been cleaned off but still wouldn't be 100% sure since I am not a gemmo.

As a specimen, probably a few hundred. max... they are usually considered "locality pieces." There's no matrix, and as far as emeralds go, the stuff from Swat isn't the best color, and this color isn't too great for Swat...assuming the picture is accurate

You do seem to have decent clarity, and nice size though. You may be able to get more for it as a cut stone, of course, that depends on how the finished stone turns out.

As a side note... isn't this just a bit commercial for this forum?

I'd say more like $300-$350

Thanks for the estimates. Easier to tell specimen price vs. gem cut-ability just from pictures. thanks again everyone!

Jameel, not sure what you mean by "to commercial" for this forum. Isn't moneygrubbers section for this type of thing? ahh..I see what you mean..I guess someone could abuse the system and post "for sale" stuff in here a lot and use the PM function to offload them.

Dealers don't usually post stuff here because some of the estimates are quite low and they would rather not subject their specimens to low estimates and or remarks that are not sometimes not very flattering. Many of the people here giving estimates are quite knowledgeable and have gotten their specimens by hard work and careful shopping. Putting you specimen here for an estimate if like putting a spot light on it, and any defect that the thing has will almost certainly be pointed out. If the king is naked, it will be pointed out immediately.

Barrett, obviously you are not trying to sell it here. I only mentioned the commercial thing due to the handling of similar threads in the past, for instance:

In that thread, Jolyon just closed it. Sure it was a larger quantity, but again, it was a dealer looking for a commercial valuation and I thought this was similar.
