Luigi Mattei passed away

[size=large]Yesterday our great italian collector and photographer, Luigi Mattei, has passed away.

I would like to leave here a deserve tribute to his invaluable mineral photo legacy in Mindat, with more then 1.700 pictures.

To whom has met ad share with him many topics, for sure will missim him for his humanity and honesty.

Always with you Luigi!

I don't know him personally, but I've seen many times his name and the images he posted. His authority was evident. I offer my sincere condolences to the family and all the friends and collaborators. I'm sure that Luigi take a journey toward a better world and I hope this could be the best confort for everyone.

Maurizio, thank you for this important notice. I've had occasion to correspond with Luigi concerning possible trades in the past and always found him to be a gentleman of the first order. Surely he will be missed. My sincere condolences to his family and friends for this sad news. May he rest in peace and find eternal life.

I also did not know him except through his fantastic photography and significant contributions to Mindat to be enjoyed all around the world. My sincerest condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Very sad indeed!
My sincere condolences to Luigi's family.

Apart of his unquestionable integrety, we will miss him for the evident enthusiasm of the mineral photography.
Personally, I will miss a real friend.
