I just uploaded some new mineral pictures from a presentation given at the Rochester Symposium this past weekend. I thought I would post the mineral photos here in case anyone is interested. They are documented in the following reference, which has also been added to mindat's database: Simonoff J., Wise M (2012) A closer Look at Merelani Minerals. Mineral News Vol 28 No 2.
A picture of the molybdenites will be forthcoming.

| This "tanzanite fan" hosts at least 3 type specimens
(fluorite, apophyllite molybdenite, and possibly stilbite-ca). | © |

| These are the type specimens of fluorite from Tanzania.
The fan piece has a large number of them sprinkled on some of the fan blades. | © |

| This is stilbite-ca (analyzed). While we have seen
mention of it anywhere, we have not tracked down anything published that indicates an analysis was done | © |
A picture of the molybdenites will be forthcoming.

Here are a coupe Merelani Stilbites I have owned. The first has larger (to 2.5 cm) Stilbites over a mostly now gone Tanzanite. The second is a 2.5cm Tanzanite with the backside coated by Stilbites (analyzed).

Here are some more interesting things found
The blocky blue prehnites exhibit color change
The block blue pieces also fluoresce nicely.
And this piece hosted rhodochrosite (bright rhombs) and calcite (darker etched rhombs)
Also found was zircon
Finally, marcasite is newly reported from Merelani
