Cleaning copper specimens

I have some samples of amygdaloidal copper in basalt from Michigan. They have quite a lot of adhering rock dust, and I would like to clean them off. I don't want to use water, as that might tarnish the copper. Is there anything else I could use for this? Thanks!

You may want to try using compressed air if you have access to such equipment.
