As you may know, mindat.org allows individuals and organizations to sponsor pages on the site.
The current list of sponsored pages is here:
Historically, the summer is a lean time for money coming in to support the site, especially as I was unable to be at the St Marie-aux-mines show to chase up potential advertisers and sponsors.
Consequently, if you haven't yet sponsored (or even if you have), and you want to help support the site, now's an excellent time to do it.
Choose your favourite mineral or locality, if it lists on the page that it's available to sponsor, just click the link and follow the procedure through.
Thank you!
Jolyon

Done (New York City). You might want to add the cost of doing this to the instruction page (for example, under the "Cost of Sponsorship" section). For anyone who doesn't know, it's currently $50/yr. for individuals and $100/yr. for companies.
By the way, if any New Yorkers are bothered by a Texan sponsoring the NYC page, I'll part with it for $200 (paid to Mindat).

I believe if you want more folks to sponsor pages Jolyon, you may consider creating one of the commercials on You Tube that resemble the starving children in some third world country, except for a struggling IT/mineral collector.
"Just 10 sponsorships a month, and you too can help......"
But, who would we get for the spokesman??

Question regarding re-sponsoring:
If you re-sponsor your page early, does it change the annual due date of the renewal? For example, if I have a page due on the 1st and I re-sponsor on say the 18th before the due date, will my renewal due date be changed to the 18th or remain the original 1st?
I'm thinking it should stay the 1st otherwise everyone's dates would change every year unless you renew on the exact date?
thanks in advance for clarifying,
regards,
stephanie

Some years ago I asked an artist in the Mineralogical Society of Southern California to draw this image up for me and I am bequeathing this image of it to Jolyon and Mindat to help him beg for sponsorship of minerals and localities for Mindat.

Stephanie,
when you re-sponsor a page, it adds 1 year on to your original sponsor time, so you do not lose any sponsorship time.
You could in theory sponsor the same page twice in one day and get it for 2 years (although I would wait until you've had confirmation that the sponsorship has been successful first!)

Hello Jolyon,
In your last post you stated ".....wait until you have confirmation that your sponsorship was successful......". Under what circumstances would a sponsorship NOT be successful? Of the two localities I signed up for yesterday only one was "successful".....I received notification via email of receipt of payment of only one locality. Should I wait or try again?
