My latest painting is a Californian elbaite (need to find the mine name). This is the second of my Tucson commission paintings.

Hi Steve,

I am very familiar with this particular tourmaline crystal, which happens to be from the Himalaya mine http://www.mindat.org/loc-3559.html near Mesa Grande, San Diego County, California. Very nice work, your watercolors remind me of John Sinkankas' paintings.

Thanks Scott. It's good that you can recognise the specimen. It means I did a reasonable job in rendering it.

John's artwork was superb. Something to aspire to.

I'd say you're well on your way.
