tell me something - I am totally un-versed in all things art and digital - is this a rendering from a photo or from a blank page?

I use a photo as a reference, but the image is from a blank page.

Again, I'm late to the party but you're a master Steve, the tiny octahedral modifications just off front center, the step faces, the slight twist on top. Really nice work!
