Hello everyone!! Looks like I will be in Tucson 2012 on Feb. 4-5 to see the Westward Look/Fine Mineral Show, and Ed Swoboda's talk, which I am really looking forward to, then out to the desert on the 6th and part of the 7th, and back in to Tucson the afternoon/evening of the 7th, and all day 8th, and the Main TGMS show the 9th and other shows the 10th, then back out to the desert to dig. Is that confusing or what??? Looking forward to meeting any fellow Mindat peeps who will be around then!!!
Chris

Hi Bryan,
There is probably space at the Quartzsite Desert Gardens show - here's the link for enquiries
[www.desertgardensrvpark.net]
Desert Gardens is the only show devoted to minerals, lapidary rough and jewelry. The Tyson Wells show advertises a short show in January that is supposed to be gems and minerals, but the show promoters do nothing to assure that most vendors have related material. It's usually cheap Chinese tools, and a lot of other products, but very few rock and gem vendors.
Tucson shows are going to be MUCH more expensive. Then only show that I can think of that you might find an opening in at a reasonable price would be at the Tucson Electric Park (TPE). The best possiblity would be the fairly new show in the TEP's parking lot, which is a separate show than in the TEP. That fact is emphasized by the extraordinary long walk the two adjoining shows force patrons to make from one show to the other. The TEP show site is [www.as-shows.com]
The TEP parking lot show is not a readily found on the web. Try
[azstarnet.com]
According to the Arizona Daily Star (Tucson's daily) the site belongs to "Barbara Hinkley... the unofficial Mapquest of the Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase". She is also reported to be very fond of the TEP show.
The good news is that, except for the original show at the convention center, all other shows are free. Plus, there is usually some form of transportation between shows, though the promoters are getting less willing to pay for the inter show vans.

Here I am sipping a coffee realizing that this time next week I'll be on the road to Tucson.
This will be my first time at the Tucson show, and I will be there over a week.
The Denver shows are my usual stomping grounds, so I'm really looking forward to meeting some new Mindaters.
Maybe I'll see some great minerals too!
