FIPP 2012 in Teofilo Otoni, MG, Brazil

Just a note to tell folks that the 2012 Feira Internationale de Pedras Preciosas will take place from 28 August-1September. It is my understanding that it is again to be held at the same club as the last 2 years--a pity, as the streets around Praca Tiradentes afforded a more convivial atmosphere. Nonetheless, this show is a worth a visit. Every year I've gone, I've found something unique and affordable. The people are friendly, and last year there were more sellers than buyers.

It is possible to find some good deals here. Many of the sellers are charging unreasonable prices. You need patience, and you need to really hunt, but the deals are there. Give it a look if you can.

An update and a correction. It turns out that the show will be held at the brand new Convention Center in Teofilo Otoni. I'm not sure exactly where this is, as it just opened in the spring, but it is probably on the outskirts of the city.

It also turns out that there will be an open-air market, probably on the grounds of the convention center.

This is a new location, and the convention center is brand new. Should be interesting.
