Mineral Shows2ND ANNUAL MINDAT FRIENDS GET-TOGETHER AT THE DENVER SHOW

5th Aug 2014 23:13 UTCPhilip Persson Expert

Hi All,

The Fall Denver Mineral Show is fast approaching, and I'd like to invite Mindat.org and mineral friends both old and new to join me at my home near the show venues in Denver on Friday, September 12th at 6:00 PM for a casual get-together, dinner and Mindat meeting. The party will be BYOB, though I will provide some limited adult (and other) beverages and food. Please send me a PM on here for the address.

Last year was a lot of fun, despite not so great weather. Hopefully this year will be back to the usual warm and sunny September Colorado weather.

I picked the 12th as I didn't want to interfere with the Colorado School of Mines Museum reception that Wednesday, and I also wanted to find a time where the most people will be in town, as the "Main" Show is that weekend (12-14th) and Marty Zinn's Ramada show is ending then, so I imagine a lot of you will be in Denver then.

There will be drinks and food from around 6-8PM, and I'll try and have the BBQ fired up as well as some stuff from the garden to grill, which should be producing lots of stuff by then. There are big picnic style tables in my side yard to sit on, as well as a bunch of extra chairs, as those of you who were there last year remember. If people are interested in doing so, we can perhaps have a general Mindat meeting around 8?

If enough people are in favor of a different night, I am open to possibly moving the date, just let me know.

Look forward to seeing you there!

best regards,

Phil Persson

Tom, look forward to seeing you and the Spirifer crew there. Jolyon & Katya- I can understand you are probably still quite busy with Roman- congrats again, he is already quite the little Mindater :) Hope you can make it to Tucson next year and we can catch up then.

best,

Phil

I would love to visit this show but unfortunately I won't be able to make it. Would have been nice to pick up a Smoky Quartz/Amazonite cluster from Colorado preferably in a small-large cabinet size for a good deal locally.

I was disappointed to see the pricing for small miniature sized Smoky Quartz/Amazonite from Colorado at the Bancroft Gemboree but I am sure there will be plenty on display in Denver seeing as many of the dealers come from Colorado (according to the list).

Looking forward to seeing a Denver show report that would be nice to read about and see how it differs from the Canadian shows I am used to.
