Debbie my previous post was about a specimen which was the same specimen as another photo, just a slightly cropped version of it, i dont see why that should be added as a separate picture, considering the fact that the photo which shows the specimen in its entirety has the cropped image as a child photo, that just my opinion though. i just dont get what is the purpose of having a child photo and using that as a separate image. I have also noticed this with these photos 326333 326335 and 326334 all are the same specimen from a different angle and one of the photos has the other 2 individual photos as a child photos, is that really necessary?

To Jason and all. It would help greatly if you would use the Tourmaline icon to post the photos of what you are talking about in the post itself. Giving the photo numbers is a help, but seeing them is much better and easier on us.
Jolyon and Dave say we have lots of room on the server, so duplication is as yet not a severe problem. Different photos of the same specimen are fine especially if they show different views. Duplicate photos and cropped duplicate photos seem of little use, unless one has additional things to say about them, but that is really what the talk pages are for.

Jason,
About the [www.mindat.org] you're quite right that there was something. The problem was that the second photo was set as child of the first photo (parent), and the third photo was not set as child of the first photo, which is normal, but as child of the second photo. Thus there were 2 parents. It is now fixed.

Hi Debbie,
Thank you for the reply.
Didn't notice it was from 2 different members. Sorry.
Still, I find it's silly to keep 2 same pictures in a gallery who count 4 pictures.
If you open the Shallow Water mine picture gallery, you will notice the "strange " effect.
Just my 2 cent.
KR.
