Improving Mindat.orgSame specimen, two entries

25th Aug 2015 21:38 UTCEd Clopton 🌟 Expert

These two pages clearly describe the same specimen: photo 264134 and photo 270344. The first was uploaded by the dealer who sold it, and the second presumably by the buyer of the specimen. The caption of the second (arguably better) photo even contains text lifted directly from the first entry. Can/should the two pages be merged?

The only way to correctly link them would be to give them both the same MinId number.

I just made an request to merge them.

Ed, if you find another one, can do it yourself: click on de minID of the photo you want to let as main photo, then down in the page click on " Report duplicate minID" and write the minID of repeated photo and click. I imagine that a manager will see increased his workload to approve it.

Josele,

I don't mind to approve merging requests.

It makes the database cleaner. Just go ahead. The more, the better.

Cheers.

Paul.
