Improving Mindat.orgLenoblite from the type locality

26th Oct 2016 01:11 UTCReiner Mielke Expert

According to http://rruff.info/doclib/am/vol56/AM56_631.pdf "Lenoblite occurs with duttonite in the uranium deposit at Mounana, Gabon. When

fresh it is azure blue but due to oxidation becomes greenish'"

These however do not look azure blue or greenish? http://www.mindat.org/photo-63607.html and http://www.mindat.org/photo-370682.html In fact the last one looks more like Bariandite and the first like Schubnelite. Either way they need analysis.

Both these are obviously not lenoblite. Analyzed Lenoblite which I saw was light-lilac and fibrous, fur-like.

I have looked at the specimen again and the description on the label was incorrect. The label said that the black mineral was lenoblite and the green mineral was bariandite. At the time when I uploaded these photos there were not any photos on mindat and I labeled the photos according to what was written on the label. I have changed the photos so that the photo of the black mineral is bariandite and the photo of the green mineral is lenoblite. I have not had this specimen analyzed. If you still think that the photos do not represent the minerals, I will be happy to remove them.
