Julgoldite was found as small greenish black crystals mainly as inclusions in a second generation of clear calcite crystals, but also as inclusions in yellow datolite crystals from cavities encountered 1 km from the western entrance in the road tunnel from Fjøre to Tafjord during the construction in 1980 and 1981. Only a small number of such specimens were saved.
