Can you help make this a better article? What good localities have we missed? Can you supply pictures of better specimens than those we show here? Can you give us more and better information about the specimens from these localities? Can you supply better geological or historical information on these localities?

Calcite
CaCO3 trigonal

Here will go a good picture of a calcite specimen from Turkey and general remarks about the calcite from this country although there are no examples here on mindat except for one that just says Turkey. Here is the url's for that specimen. These, in most cases are just for temporary use until we can get images of the much better specimens that are almost certainly out there. We should also consider that there are probably localities out there with fine specimens that are not even mentioned on Mindat. Also in some instances there are sometimes pictures on Mindat, of specimens from a locality, but they were so ratty that I did not include them here, but there may also be really good specimens from there that we should talk about in this article.

Dear Rock,

You asked for more pictures of calcite from Turkey. I send you 3 photos. I have much more. Please inform me if you are interested. I am not a professional. So if you think that the minerals on pictures are not calcite let me know.

Best regards,
Mari

Mari,
Usually for the best minerals articles, for a mineral as common as calcite we usually stick to using images of free standing calcite crystals and do not show pictures of broken or massive forms of calcite unless there is a compelling reason to do so. But because we have so few calcites from Turkey in our gallery, I might use the one you call Magic calcite. But, you would have to upload the image to the mindat gallery. Sending images as attachments to thread posts is not sufficient because it does not specify a complete locality nor do we know how large the specimen is. Both of these are requirements for our general gallery and best minerals. Also in the photo upload forum you must select the type of copyright that you wish for your images.
