Can you help make this a better article? What good localities have we missed? Can you supply pictures of better specimens than those we show here? Can you give us more and better information about the specimens from these localities? Can you supply better geological or historical information on these localities?

Here will go a good picture of a fluorite from Mongolia and general remarks about the fluorite from this country. Here are some url's to some of the better Mongolian fluorite specimens here on Mindat that can be considered for inclusion in the article. These, in most cases are just for temporary use until we can get images of the much better specimens that are almost certainly out there. We should also consider that there are probably localities out there with fine specimens that are not even mentioned on Mindat. Also in some instances there are sometimes pictures on Mindat, of specimens from a locality, but they were so ratty that I did not include them here, but there may also be really good specimens from there that we should talk about in this article.

Thanks for your note. I am not sure when we will get around to working on the article on Mongolian fluorites, but we will definitely include some images of fluorites from Mongolia. The choice of images will depend on who writes the article. The person who wrights the article is the one who chooses the pictures to include.
Do you know someone who know about the Mongolian fluorite deposits? Can you put me in touch with them or find out some information about them that we can include in the article? What kind of mines are they. Are they open pit mines or underground mines. How many mines are there? How long have they been producing specimens? How big do the crystals get? How many specimens have been produced?

Spirifer team visited fluorite mines in Bor-Ondor area about 10 years ago. There are several mines and quarries. We published article about this locality in our journal "Otoczak". Unfortunately it was only in Polish... I will try to translate some part and put here.

Rock,
i used to have some Khar Airag specimens and therefore sought out some literature some time ago, for instance (but in german):
Fluoritvorkommen in der Mongolei - Ein Kurzbericht.
J. Schlüter, D. Borchuluun
Der Aufschluß, 47, 5, ,1996, 193-196
Then there is Peter Seroka´s comprehensive Fluorite portrait on mineralienatlas:
He has a list of references at the bottom of the page.
Maybe of help,
cheers

TB,
Can you tell us something about the fluorite deposits in Mongolia? Do they all have a similar kind of geology? When were they found? Are any of them currently being worked commercially? To they all produce good specimens of fluorite, or which of the deposits produce the best specimens. Are any of the deposits currently exploited for specimens? Can you supply pictures of some of the specimens and or of the localities?
