Help Looking for New Calcite Book Title. March 10, 2012 07:35PM |

Hello all!
I recently saw a review for a new book about a mine in Europe with 200 some different calcite habits. It was European language/publisher. It looked really well done with each habit pictured(photo), discussed, and then diagrammed. Very Cool~!
I was telling my mineralogy professor about it (digression in a mineral conversation, no way!) He was interested in it for a possible addition to dept reference materials.
I thought I could easily re-find it but it has eluded me for several days and so I ask for help!
I am confident someone here will be able to answer this easily.
Thanks in advance!
John O.
(Most of my confusion stems from having fully fell asleep at the desk. Nodding off is common, no bigge, this time I was gone for a while... Upon awakening I just bleeeeerrily shut it ALL down... Hate it when that happens! That is why I don't recall what language it was in- twas complicated!
For humor here, I chuckle remembering about how I learned to keep keyboard in middle or at back of desk when working really tired... I opened a document I was writing to find several pages of run-on gibberish letters. What is? How long? WTH????
Apparently I fell asleep with my hands on the keyboard for a while.... Always laugh about that one...

Hi John,
I think you're looking for Michel Croisez his new book about the Calcites of Landelies quarry.
Here's the link to the 4M club website (Michel, the author, is one of the board members of the club), where you can find all the information on how to order the book: [www.quatrem.be]
Cheers,

Hello Harjo,
Could you perhaps solve some confusion I am having with the webpage regarding the publication? Please check to see if I have the following statements correct.
--The webpage is in French-( I used Google translate for the text below the book)
-- To the right are two other translations in seperate boxes: The top is German and the bottom is Dutch.
-- I again used Google to translate the German box- It states that the text is in English
Hinweis: Dieses Buch ist in Englisch Geschrieben == Note: This book is written in English.
I don't see that statement in the French language...
-- I translated the Dutch page, where the last statement reads:
Waarschuwing: Dit boek is in het frans geschreven. == Warning: This book is written in French.
LoL- you see where I'm laughing in slight confusion (and I'm not sleepy either:) Please clarify if possible if there is an English version(I am thinking there is not.)
Since it is 20 Euro = ~$27 USD + shipping, I think that seems very reasonable! I think we will be purchasing. The photos and diagrams will speak for themselves. I can often puzzle out written text in another European language- many synonyms are visible. I wish I could do the same with spoken words- far more difficult!
Again, Thank You (and anyone else involved!) for your efforts in clarification here!
Very Sincerely,
JohnO:)
