Eagle's Nest Mine, Sage Hill, Michigan Bluff Mining District, Placer County, California, USA

Dimensions: 3.5 mm x 2 mm x 1 mm
Weight: 52 g

This is the smallest specimen so far in the "Richardson Fulgurite Collection" at only 52 grams, compared to the largest specimen at 37.7 ounces (over 2 lbs.!). Although it is not as spectacular as the other Fulgurite specimens, it is quite a unique piece and not just the regular "tube" type you see all the time. The 37.7 oz. specimen in this collection is the largest Fulgurite I have ever seen, even on line, and believe this a rare find for Fulgurites. I liked this smaller piece because it was could comfortably fit in your hand.
This specimen was obtained from the persons who dug it up in Placer County, California (USA), in the Sierra Foothills.

Weight: 34 oz

Extra Large Size Fulgurite specimen: I obtained this specimen directly from the persona who dug it up in Placer County, California, USA. It is part of the "Richardson Fulgurite Collection". With it's unique shape and multi-colored patches of mineralization on the outside near one of the openings, this one is my favorite.
If anyone out there has any idea what these small multi-colored patches of minerals on this Fulgurite could be [please see close-up photos in this gallery), could you please contact me? Please email phoenixmate@yahoo.com and reference "fulgurite" in the email header, so my assistant will be sure I get the email right away.
Since these multi-colored (turquoise to cobalt blue, and even pink to "fire engine" red) mineral patches are on the largest (34 oz.) Fulgurite piece in the "Richardson Fulgurite Collection", it would be helpful to know what they are or were before being super-heated and re-created by a lightening strike.

Extra Large Size Fulgurite specimen: At 1,069 grams, this is the largest Fulgurite specimen I have ever seen. It has some great coloring near the openings (aqua aurea, gold and copper colors), and a very unique branching shape. I obtained this specimen from the persons who dug it up, and it was found in gold mining country in Placer County, California (United States). This specimen is part of the "Richardson Fulgurite Collection".
