Scofield Quarry (Michigan Stone and Supply Company Quarry; Borin Brothers Quarry; Woolmith Quarry), Maybee, Monroe Co., Michigan, USA

Honey-colored cluster of calcite crystals from what is now called the Stoneco quarry (current owner and operator) at 6837 Scofield Rd, Maybee, Michigan. The calcite fluoresces a light orange under SW UV, and a pleasing magenta color under MW. The specimen is about 4 cm across the base. Photo and specimen: Steve Stuart.

My research into this indicates that the Sora Limestone Quarry is operated by Great lakes Aggregate Company at 20837 N. Huron River Drive in Rockwood, Michigan. The old Ottawa Silica Company ...
