Baxter Springs, Picher Field, Tri-State District, Cherokee Co., Kansas, USA 11.5 x 7.5 x 4.2 cm. This is an outstanding Tri-State specimen (probably 40-60 years old). Here you have four superb amber-colored calcites perfectly arranged along the edge of a matrix covered with sparkling, wine-colored sphalerites. The largest calcite measures 6.5 cm. Ex. Velie-Leopard Mine, Baxter Springs, Picher Field, Tri-State District, Cherokee Co., Kansas, USA 7.5 x 6.3 x 4.4 cm. A highly unusual and very fine pair of intergrown, spherical calcite crystals nicely accented with gemmy, ruby-jack sphalerite crystals. The frosted, translucent calcites have a rich, golden-honey color when backlit. This is old-time, pristine material from this historic district and is from the very much less well-known ... |

Some chipping is present as seen in the photos. Nice old Tri-State calcite specimen. |

Baxter Springs, Picher Field, Tri-State District, Cherokee Co., Kansas, USA Fine amber colored semi-lustrous translucent crystals of calcite to 7.2 cm in size are set nicely upon a 7.1 x 5.6 x 3.5 cm matrix of chalcopyrite and dolomite. Very minimal and minor chipping is present; this can be seen in the photos. Nice old-time example from this classic mining district! |

With old label from Hugh Ford (1885-1966). No damage. Ex. Robert C. Linck (1905-1970). Overall size of mineral specimen: 8x8x5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 2-40 mm. |
