Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3

Mica Lode mine (Mica Hill Mine), Eight Mile Park pegmatite District, Fremont Co., Colorado, USA

Cluster of red-brown andradite garnet with minor matrix attached. No reference of andradite can be found in researching this locality - could be a new occurrence. Overall size of mineral specimen: 3x2x1.5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 5x15 mm.

Beryl : Be3Al2Si6O18

Devils Hole Mine (Wild Rose Mine), Devils Hole Area, Fremont Co., Colorado, USA

This locality produced large beryl crystals. the main economic mineral mined here during World War II. Around 300 tons of beryl were found. These two specimens are about 15 meters high on the pegmatite wall and around 50 cm wide. Photo; Rudy Bolona, October 4, 2008.

Columbite-(Fe) : FeNb2O6

Devils Hole Mine (Wild Rose Mine), Devils Hole Area, Fremont Co., Colorado, USA

I worked an albite zone, removing some muscovite and this appeared! A nice grouping of columbite crystals. The main crystal is 11 x 4.6 x 2 cm and weighs 252 grams. Most columbites here are less than 2cm. These are quite large for the locality. These are in my collection now. Photo; Rudy Bolona.

Elbaite : [Na][(Li,Al)3][Al6][(OH)3|OH|(BO3)3|Si6O18], Spessartine : Mn2+3Al2[SiO4]3, Albite (Var: Cleavelandite) : Na[AlSi3O8], Quartz : SiO2

Chief lithium pegmatite, Texas Creek Area, Fremont Co., Colorado, USA

Green elbaite with red spessartine surrounded by a halo of blue tourmaline, on clevelandite and quartz matrix; 8x6.5x3cm; Colored tourmalines are quite rare in Colorado. These make nice association pieces Collected by Rudy Bolona, Oct. 2008.
