A simply horrible piece of mica-schist with crystals of very ugly Andalusite, the little red stains where probably once garnet, but have been altered. This piece was found on the beach where the tide/sea has polished it. The Andalusite which is found in situ is even more horrible and not worth collected. This piece was taken for reference. The ...

A representative piece of Andalusite (pink stuff) with some biotite on quartz matrix from Claggan quarry. Representative specimens of Andalusite are easily found. This piece measure about 7cm across.
