Rounded apatite crystals to 1,5 mm in calcite matrix. FOV ca 2 x 1,4 mm. Photo scanned from diapositive, taken with a OM2 camera with phototube on a Olympus VMF2x stereoscope. Collected and in the collection of the photographer.

Calcite : CaCO3

Karmøy, Rogaland, Norway

A 5,5 x 5 x 3,1 cm large piece with white calcite crystals of an unusual habit. Largest crystal 0,9 mm in diameter. They are growing on a mat of quartz covered by a layer of greyish-brown chlorite group mineral. It was found in a roadcut at Karmøy, Rogaland in the early 1980s. The exact locality is unknown to me.
