Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3, Hematite : Fe2O3

N'Chwaning II Mine, N'Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

This specimen is just so beautiful and uncommon - sparkly maroon crystals of andradite on euhedral crystals of hematite. Even if you collect N''Chwaning stuff, I doubt you have one of these. 3.2 x 3 x 2.8 cm

Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3

Wessels Mine (Wessel's Mine), Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Large, compound crystal of Andradite (it is complete on front, though halved 3-dimensionally by contact on the back even though it is not broken per se). The color and luster are both good . Uncommon, and nice and just plain HUGE for the size for the locality. 4.3 x 3.9 x 2.7 cm

Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3

Wessels Mine (Wessel's Mine), Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Lustrous, well-formed crystals to .5 cm covering the matrix. The color and luster add to the importance and beauty of this specimen. In person, it has more of a red hue than you see here 5.5 x 5 x 2 cm

Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3, Hematite : Fe2O3

Wessels Mine (Wessel's Mine), Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

This is a specimen of hematite on one side of which have formed distinct, euhedral crystals - that were later covered with a layer of wine-red, sparkly garnet microcrystals! Pretty and very unusual - from the Wessels Mine in the Kalahari Manganese Fields of South Africa. This specimen blows you away in person - the pics cannot convey it! 13.3 x ...

Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3, Bementite : Mn5Si4O10(OH)6

N'Chwaning II Mine, N'Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Rhombododecahedral andradite garnets with variously intense color, and white bementite (according to the label) present as aggregates of microscopic hexagonal platelets.
Image is 5 mm wide.
Acquired in 2007.

Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3

Wessels Mine (Wessel's Mine), Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

A very rare garnet specimen from a small find in the 1980s that produced these waxy-lustered, red andradites in record size crystals for the mine. The large crystal here is 1.2 cm and the form is SHARP! For the location, these remain unequaled to my knowledge and are certainly rarely seen for sale. This is the first I have had in a long time. 6.3 ...

Multiple photos availableAndradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3, Celestine : SrSO4

N'Chwaning II Mine, N'Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Dark red Andradite Garnets cover 3 sides of the matrix, crystals are translucent. The side edge looks damaged this is fans/sprays of Celestine.

Measures 6cm x 5cm x 3.5cm

Andradite : Ca3Fe3+2[SiO4]3, Hematite : Fe2O3, Calcite : CaCO3

Wessels Mine (Wessel's Mine), Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

7.3 x 4.8 x 3.0 cm. An EXCELLENT specimen of sparkly, dark cherry-red andradite garnet crystals preferentially coating splendent hematite crystals and nicely accented by a glassy, colorless, complex calcite crystal from the famous Wessels Mine of South Africa.
