Kohse mine, Tenkawa village, Yoshino-gun, Nara Prefecture, Kinki Region, Honshu Island, Japan

An aesthetic cluster of sharp "rainbow" garnet crystals, measuring 1.5cm x 1cm x 1cm. The faces are razor-sharp, lustrous, and the color is a rich reddish-orange, with an iridescence that seems to be differentiated into layers. Jasun McAvoy photo.
