Albite (Var: Cleavelandite) : Na[AlSi3O8], Tourmaline : AD3G6(BO3)3[T6O18]Y3Z, Quartz : SiO2

Himalaya Mine (Himalaya pegmatite; Himalaya dikes), Gem Hill, Mesa Grande District, San Diego Co., California, USA

A bluish rosette formation of Cleavelandite on the side of a specimen containing Schorl, Smokey Quartz and last but not least, bi-color pink and green Tourmaline crystals. Neat because I hardly ever see Himalaya tourmalines in matrix. The little yellowish blobs are Lepidolite. Ex. Nelson collection. About 8 cm.

Apatite

Himalaya Mine (Himalaya pegmatite; Himalaya dikes), Gem Hill, Mesa Grande District, San Diego Co., California, USA

Apatite

Himalaya Mine (Himalaya pegmatite; Himalaya dikes), Gem Hill, Mesa Grande District, San Diego Co., California, USA

An unusual apatite from any location, which looks like a drip deposit hanging off what used to be a much more sharply formed crystal and so preserved in a partial state of being dissolved (?). In any case, it is oddly attractive and is an unusually large apatite for the mine, even if not it is a partial crystal. Acquired from the collection of Tim ...

Himalaya Mine (Himalaya pegmatite; Himalaya dikes), Gem Hill, Mesa Grande District, San Diego Co., California, USA

2.3 x 1.0 x 1.0 cm. A doubly terminated, sharply hexagonal apatite crystal from the famous Himalaya Mine. This pristine crystal is gemmy and glassy and is colorless to light gray. Ex.
