The child photos are close up views. The orange/red stuff is granular rhodochrosite with a few small rhombs - listed for completeness. There may also be shomiokite-(Y) but if so, it's behind the adamsite. Oct 2009: Updated using stacking and with better color fidelity. The stuff is pale pink - not ... |

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada The fibrous adamsite-(Y) spans ~ 2cm. Via Jean-Pierre Beckerich. The adamsite-(Y) sits on a "boulder" approx 18 x 10 x 7 cm that I'm afraid to trim for fear of losing the adamsite-(Y). It flies off if you sneeze! Other parts of this "boulder" have nice fresh petersenite-(Ce) xls and a very small amount of shomiokite-(Y). Sept 2009: Updated ... |
