Albite : Na[AlSi3O8], Quartz : SiO2

Dache (Dassu; Dasu; Haramosh-Dassu; Dacha), Haramosh Mts., Gilgit District, Northern Areas, Pakistan

19.4 x 15.5 x 10.1 cm. OK, this one boggled minds at Denver. It fooled me, and it fooled numerous people...nobody guessed blue albite crystals. The identity was finally settled by analysis at the University of Arizona. It seems to be a one-of-a-kind. I have seen no others of this material while waiting for this one to be cleaned and returned to ...

Apatite-(CaF) : Ca5[F|(PO4)3], Albite : Na[AlSi3O8]

Nagar (Nagir), Hunza Valley, Gilgit District, Northern Areas, Pakistan

A big, fat, fine apatite crystal, well-terminated, with glassy luster and wonderful pink color, measuring 2.4 cm in both width and height. Accented by albite and some smaller crystals below. Pink apatites are considered one of the best minerals of the Pakistani pegmatites , and are much more rare than the gem crystals themselves. 4.5 x 4 x 2.8 cm
