Lechang Mine, Lechang Co., Shaoguan Prefecture, Guangdong Province, China Highly fluorescent calcite from the Lechang Mine. Under SW it glows orange. Under MW, the color shifts to a pleasing orange-pink. LW is dull orange. Specimen is about 6 cm in length. I obtained it at the Inn Suites Show, Tucson, 2009. Photo and specimen; Steve Stuart. |

This piece, illustrated in teh China issue of ROCKS & MINERALS, is one such. For the past 7-8 years, Chinese Garnets (especially the specimens from Fujian) have been quite abundant. But the really killer specimens have been too few and hard to come by.
