Blanchard Mine (Portalas-Blanchard Mine), Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA Cubic pseudomorph of anglesite after a galena crystal 15 mm across. The surface has a sparkling, drusy texture. Two areas have bright blue linarite. Ex. A. Stevenson collection #644. Overall size of mineral specimen: 20x15x14 mm. Size of individual crystals: 15 mm. |

Blanchard Mine (Portalas-Blanchard Mine), Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA An unusually large and sharp pseudo for the location, where such replacements tend to be rather ugly , for lack of a better word. Not only is the crystal somewhat attractive, but it is on attractive matrix besides! The galena measures about 4 x 4 x 3 cm and is crystallized with octahedral modifications on each corner. It is partially replaced by ... |

Sunshine no. 2 Adit, Blanchard Mine (Portalas-Blanchard Mine), Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA 11.5 x 7 x 5.3 cm. A very nice specimen of the early alteration of Galena to Anglesite. These sparkly and very attractive pieces are always a favorite target at the Blanchard Mine, but rarely do you fine them this good (finding them, then getting them out, of the silicified limestone is quite a chore). The largest of these attractive Galenas is ... |

Blanchard Mine (Portalas-Blanchard Mine), Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA This 5 x 3 1/2 inch piece of matrix hosts a small patch of "hairs" of aurichalcite and many small pale cubes of fluorite sprinkled on the top of the matrix. Self-collected in 1961 by Charles Creekmur. |

Sunshine no. 2 Adit, Blanchard Mine (Portalas-Blanchard Mine), Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA 7.3 x 5.1 x 4.5 cm. A very rich specimen of these secondary copper minerals for the locality. Usually both minerals occur as small acicular crystals or, worse yet as smears, stains, or blebs here and thus not as mineral specimens per se in their own right. This is a really rich piece though, with lighter blue-green aurichalcite over a rich massive ... |
