Magnetite from the Propst farm location in North Carolina. The specimen is approx 3/8" x 3/8". It still has a slight coating from the red clay that it was removed from.

Muscovite : KAl2[(OH)2|AlSi3O10]

Thin crystals of transparent muscovite mica with beautiful inclusions of garnet and rutile(?). The inclusions are three colors, black, translucent gray, and orange. Looks cool under magnification! Overall size of mineral specimen: 10x9x.1 xm. Size of individual crystals: 10 cm.

Reel Mine, Iron Station, Lincoln Co., North Carolina, USA

This new find of amethyst at the Reel Mine was one of the exciting events of earlier this year. They turned up at Tucson, and while the prices were very high, they still sold hotly. This specimen has crystals with a fine lavender blush and gemmy tips. 5.7 x 5.0 x 3.7cm
