Kermesite : Sb2S2O, Stibiconite : Sb3+Sb5+2O6(OH)

Lozovoye broken-stone quarry, Simferopol area, Crimea Oblast', Ukraine

Dark-red kermesite (identified by powder XRD at the X-ray laboratory of the Crimean Branch of the Ukrainian State Geological Prospecting Institune, Simferopol) and greyish stibiconite partialy pseudomorphs after stibnite crystals. Reddish prismatic crystals of laumontite in calcite veins. Specimen was found Polkanov Y.A. in the end 1970th. Sample #0745 in the Geological museum of the Crimean Branch of Ukrainian State Geological Prospecting Institute (Simferopol)

Green microcrystalline malachite crust on weathered diabase. Size 8,2x6,5x2,3 cm. Sample (#0080) Geological museum of Crimean Branch of UkrSGPI (Simferopol). Found in 1962, Polkanov Y.A. Malachite is a very rare mineral in this quarry.

Sphalerite : (Zn,Fe2+)S

Lozovoye broken-stone quarry, Simferopol area, Crimea Oblast', Ukraine

Sphalerite (var.:marmatite, 18,43% Fe)- blask grains about 3,0 mm with quartz and pyrite. Field view 5x5 cm. It was found by Y.A. Polkanov (ukrainian mineralogist) in 1962. This specimen is from collection of Geological Museum in Crimean Branch of Ukrainian State Geological Prospecting Institute (Simferopol).
