Fluorite : CaF2, Calcite : CaCO3

Old Country Road locality, Thomaston, Knox Co., Maine, USA

Translucent blue-purple fluorite crystals (octahedral) up to 1 mm over scalenohedral calcite crystals up to 4 mm. The fluorite has an excellent color and luster. The calcite fluoresces under UV illumination. Unusual locality. Overall size of mineral specimen: 4x3x1.5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 1-4 mm.
