Prismatic crystals of light-lilac to colourless Chromian Amesite overgrow tabular crystals of greenish-grey Clinochlore in perpendicular orientation. Etched from Calcite veinlet within massive chromitites. Specimen size is 3x2 cm. Selfcollected in 1978. Pavel M. Kartashov collection and photo.

EXCEPTIONALLY RICH AND COLORFUL specimen with crystals to 4 mm representing the very best quality from this locality. These crystals are such an intense purple color that most folks would not even guess them to be amesite, usually a pale lavender hue from the locality. 8 x 5 x 3 cm

It is difficult for me to decide which is more significant: the extraordinary growth of the sharp crystals of the Chromium rich Amesite, or their brilliance and color (which is really intense if you use incandescent light).
