It is the combination here which is so interesting: the smoky quartzes are intergrown with balls of muscovite mica and radiating crystals of schorl tourmaline. ...

9.3 x 6.4 x 5.1 cm. Huge, lustrous, partially gemmy, variegated brown vesuvianite crystals comprise this showy and excellent specimen from the well-known California locality of Portola in Plumas County. The crystals reach 6.7 cm.
