Arsenic : As, Calcite : CaCO3, Orpiment : As2S3

Krasnochikoyskoe deposit, Krasnyi Chikoy, Chitinskaya Oblast', Transbaikalia (Zabaykalye), Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia

Black spheroids of native Arsenic within calcite vein crosscuting altered basic rock. Minor films of orange-yellow powdery Orpiment is visible. Orpiment here is result of interaction of native arsenic with sulphat waters produced by oxidation of pyrite from host basaltic rock. Specimen size is 10x6 cm. Pavel M.
