Calcite : CaCO3

Khaidarkan (Chaidarkan) Sb-Hg deposit, Fergana Valley, Alai (Alay) Range, Osh Oblast, Kyrgyzstan

An interesting pseudomorph of a starburst-like cluster of the rare mineral Gaylussite having been rplaced by Calcite. This very well formed pseudomorph is better than most of the of these specimens that I've encountered in the past few years.

The sticker said Fergana valley,Kyrgyzstan on one side and calcite,aragonite and something i cannot make out also.This is a really nice rock no breaks no chips the white looks like snow actually it looks like pyramids in a snow storm.Grandma went to many strange parts of the world she lived in afghanistan for a good part of the early 1960's after ...
