Apophyllite-(KF) : KCa4[(F,OH)|Si8O20] · 8H2O

Palabora mine, Loolekop, Phalaborwa, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Superbly crystallized example for this species at this locality! Silky lustrous sharp pseudo-cubic crystals of colorless apophyllite-(KF) to 0.9 cm in size are thickly covering a 6.9 x 4.8 x 3.4 cm matrix. The crystals are translucent and very clean of damage. Brucite : Mg(OH)2

Palabora mine, Loolekop, Phalaborwa, Limpopo Province, South Africa

A very unusual and attractive specimen, that seems to be complete all around except a small part of one edge which must have been a smooth attachment point (it is nearly a floater). It shows crystal faces on all sides, though no clear crystal form predominates. The whole piece is translucent and is an unearthly blue color, in person! Minor white ...

Palabora mine, Loolekop, Phalaborwa, Limpopo Province, South Africa

8.4 x 4 x 2.6 cm. A fine, very attractive intense pastel-blue Brucite specimen with sharp crystals of unusually good quality. The edges of the piece are contacted, but the crystals along the edges and at the core are in excellent condition and have very good color for the material. The translucent to gemmy crystals have well-defined terminations ...
