Doyleite : Al(OH)3, Sphalerite : (Zn,Fe2+)S

An 18cm specimen of multicolored Doyleite crusts on massive Sphalerite. Purchased by fellow PhD student, Sam Haines at Cerro Rico as a smithsonite. It was later identified as Doyleite by XRD. Sam cut the specimen in half, and gave me this half, the other remains in his personal collection. C. Stefano specimen #1919.

Dark green faustite spherules (paler on the inside) roughly 1mm across, on siderite and druzy quartz with pale-colored massive phosphophyllite (about 4cm) from Cerro Rico.

Strange filiform aggregates of micro red greenockite crystals at the base of a crude hexagonal mass of arsenopyrite crystals, which might be a pseudomorph after pyrrhotite. Alfredo Petrov collection; 2.5cm.
