Single crystal of dark red almandine garnet in schist matrix from the classic locality in Alaska. The garnet crystal is dodecahedral with trapezohedral edge modifications. There is an internal flaw on one corner - externally it is undamaged. Overall size of mineral specimen: 5x3x2.5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 2 cm.

16.9 x 9.3 x 4.4 cm. Four superb almandine garnets on/in schist, from Alaska. The largest is 2.5 cm, and is UNUSUALLY gemmy for these - they are generally so dark as to be practically opaque, but you see a lot of nice red flash on this large one (the camera did not pick it up but be assured it is there!) A choice loose dark red to almost black single loose almandine crystal measuring 3.1 x 2.7 x 2.3 cm in size. Minor chipping is present but overall in good condition damage-wise. Nice for this classic locality. Ex Gene and Sally LaBerge collection.
