Black Cloud Mine (Resurrection Mine 0080650339; Yak Tunnel; Leadville Unit; Irene Shaft), Iowa Gulch, Leadville, Leadville District, Lake Co., Colorado, USA 3.5 x 2.3 x 1.4 cm. The Black Cloud mine is well known for its sulfide specimens, but it has also produced some of the classic "golden" Baryte for which the Leadville Mining District is renowned. Here we have a fine example with layered, curved, "chisel"-shaped, gemmy, somewhat lustrous, bladed golden Barite crystals. This specimen is at least 30 ... |

Irene Mine, Leadville, Leadville District, Lake Co., Colorado, USA 11.2 x 8.0 x 5.3 cm. The Irene mine is one of the lesser known localities around Leadville for Baryte, but this piece hosts dozens of excellent quality, sharp, tabular, greenish-golden Baryte blades with superb internal phantoms mixed with cubic Pyrite and Quartz. Ex. Jaime Bird Collection. |

Black Cloud Mine (Resurrection Mine 0080650339; Yak Tunnel; Leadville Unit; Irene Shaft), Iowa Gulch, Leadville, Leadville District, Lake Co., Colorado, USA 3.0 x 1.8 x 1.4 cm. This specimen is at least 30 years old, and possibly older as it resembles other Black Cloud Barytes that I have seen which were found in the 1960s and 1970s. This area has produced some of the finest Barytes from Colorado. The Black Cloud mine is well known for it's sulfide specimens, but it has also produced some of the ... |

Leadville, Leadville District, Lake Co., Colorado, USA 3.2 x 1.9 x 0.9 cm. Rarely seen in today's market place, this small cluster of cerussite from Leadville is obviously an old specimen. Featuring adamantine luster and translucence, this specimen exhibits a whitish-yellow color superior to the chalky look seen on most surviving specimens from there. The largest crystal measures almost 3.0 cm in ... |

Leadville, Leadville District, Lake Co., Colorado, USA This specimen is almost entirely comprised of very rich, dense "horn silver" Chlorargyrite. "Horn Silver" is an antiquated term given to rich crusts of Chlorargyrite that have been particularly weathered by desert conditions to resemble the flat, dull luster of a cow horn. Upon close examination one can see a number of curious features, including ... |
