Baryte : BaSO4, Celestine : SrSO4, Fluorite : CaF2

Annabel Lee mine, Harris Creek Sub-District, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA

I have never seen a piece quite like this...This is a fascinating mineralogical oddity. The form of the white crystal is obviously that of celestine, which has been altered. In fact, on the underside, are some very light blue primary (original) celestine crystals along with minor dark purple fluorite. The celestite had evidently grown upon the ...

Barite on Fluorite from Annabel Lee Mine, Hardin County, Illinois

This floater specimen is very aesthetic and original. Tabular white crystals of Barite are aerial on a Fluorite crystal having a curious growth, formed by three faces of a cube and a fourth one being octahedral, where the Barite group is attached.

Baryte : BaSO4, Fluorite : CaF2

Annabel Lee mine, Harris Creek Sub-District, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA

Choice creamy lustrous white crystals of barite to 2 cm in size, spear-like in shape, are forming an aesthetic 3.9 x 2.1 x 4.6 cm cluster with minor purple fluorite. Shows nicely all around. The fluorite is present as a cleavage mass; the barites are perfect and show translucency when examined closely. Very nice! Ex Gene Tribbey collection ...

Baryte : BaSO4

Annabel Lee mine, Harris Creek Sub-District, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA

This curious specimen features numerous sprays of the mineral Barite growing inside of a vug in its matrix. The earth-colored matrix contrasts nicely with the light-blue color of the Barite crystals. Another interesting feature of this specimen is that the Barite crystals exhibit pale turquoise-green fluorescence when lit by SWUV light.

Calcite : CaCO3, Fluorite : CaF2

Annabel Lee mine, Harris Creek Sub-District, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA

A big, waxy-golden crystal of calcite from Illinois, showing fine symmetrical form and sharp faces, with part of a purple fluorite crystal sticking out of it! The calcite does have some edge wear in places, but you can easily oil these whitish spots out if you wish - they are not actual dings and there is no missing crystal, just very slight ...
