Lolon Mine (Challacollo Mine), Challacollo, Iquique Province, Tarapacá Region, Chile Rock H. Currier hunted down a few nice micromounts for these photographs. Larger crystals measured up to 3.0 mm, but they showed lots of damage. Smaller but sharper are the pseudohexagonal monoclinic crystals (trillings in fact) in this 1.2 mm field of view. Be aware that caracolite crystals are attacked by water in which they turn white and ... |
