Almandine : Fe2+3Al2[SiO4]3

Sedalia Mine (Jackpot Adit; Adits Nos. 1-3; Dewey Adit; Sedalia Copper Mine), Sedalia District, Chaffee Co., Colorado, USA

Dodecahedral almandine garnet crystal without matrix. Partial coating of greenish chlorite in some areas. From the classic locality that produced crystals up to 15 cm. This crystal has exaggerated cubic faces making the underlying cubic form apparent. Overall size of mineral specimen: 5x5x4.5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 5 cm.

7.4 x 6.9 x 6.2 cm. This is a GIGANTIC Colorado garnet crystal, weighing in at an astounding 760 grams (1 pound, 10 ounces)! But what is really great about it is that despite its size, it is in glorious condition: super-sharp, with textbook form. Only a couple of the corners have contacts. It has this pretty "patina" look to it from a thin ...

A fine large reddish-black opaque floater loose crystal of almandine measuring 5.2 x 5.0 x 4.2 cm in size overall. Very minimal chipping is present, this visible in the photos. Overall in great shape and quite nice for this species/locality! Ex Don Belsher collection.
