Specimen from the Gerard Troost collection (ca. 1810 - 1850). The catalogue description reads: "Coralloid gypsum (Alabaster rosette Dana [2nd edition] p. 52), Mammoth Cave, Kentucky." Gypsum "cave flower," a gift to a young child in the late 1960's by the Kentucky Geological Survey staff. (They were moving to a new building a didn't mind giving an old specimen to a budding geologist.) Alan Goldstein specimen (#7243) and photo.
