Vaca Muerta meteorite, Taltal, Antofagasta Province, Antofagasta Region, Chile Surface fusion crust (top) and cross-sectional structure (cut side, bottom) of this mesosiderite stony-iron meteorite. The greenish brown crystal embedded in middle of top surface in top image appears to be olivine. The cut section shows the mixture of iron-nickel crystals in silicate matrix. FOV 25 mm wide. RFC MT6. |
