Weathered whitish calcite in limestone. The calcite fluoresces pink under short UV light. This sample was located in the York River, before the bridge an is 6.1 cm long, by 4.3 cm wide and 3 cm high. From M. Adamowicz collection.

Here we have a large sample of white Calcite with green Diopside & orange Grossular from the York River Skarn, Ontario. The sample is 9.6 cm long by 8.1 cm wide, and 7.8 cm tall. The largest diopside crystal is about 1.8 cm long, and 1 cm wide. From M. Adamowicz collection.

Diopside : CaMg[Si2O6], Calcite : CaCO3

York River Skarn (York River Tactite Zone), Dungannon Township, Bancroft District, Hastings Co., Ontario, Canada

This is a sample of Green Diopside on White Calcite. The sample was found near the York River Skarn, Ontario. the large Diopside crystal is 2.1 cm long, by 0.8 cm wide. The larger Calcite cluster is 4.5 cm long by 3.3 cm wide, and 4 cm tall. The small Diopside grains in the Calcite are about 0.5 cm long. From M. Adamowicz collection.
